Park Afek

Park Afek - also called Antipatris. A place where Herod the Great, built a fortress and named it after Antipatris, his father a very very interesting personality. A grey shadow, behind the last Hasmonean kings. A person, who is best described in Yiddish as "Shaher-Maher". He made it possible for his son to become a king of Judah, and a friend of Ceaser. Antipartris was able to become friends with pre-Islamic Arabs, Romans, Jews, and all fractions of the Middle East, and he used this friendship for his benefit. Main powers used him as diplomat and negotiator.

Park Afek is also a site, where Yarkon starts its flow and it used to be a strategic place that every general would like to control, that's why Turks build here their own fortress and we will also visit it.

We will also see place, were ancient Egyptian base was situated, and talk about how different powers used this place as a form of land control.
